A bottle of our delicious Apricot fruit wine

Welcome to our winery!

A photo of our wineryKawartha Country Wines is a small winery dedicated to making premium quality fruit and grape wines nestled in the heart of the Kawarthas, a very popular tourist and recreation destination. It is located on County Road #36 between the small towns of Buckhorn and Bobcaygeon, Ontario.

The wine making facilities, tasting room and gift shop are housed in a restored log cabin built in 1866 complete with the original square hewn logs and pine floors. Surrounded by 22 scenic acres, the land is planted to apples, pears, several varieties of raspberries, rhubarb and grapes. Along with this there are many stately maple trees which are used to produce our exquisite maple syrup ice wine.

A photo of John Rufa

John Rufa, owner and vintner, comes from a long tradition of family winemaking. Years of practical experience and the study of enology have prepared John well to be a winemaker. The success of his wines can be attributed not only to his fundamental knowledge of traditional winemaking techniques but more importantly to the new, creative and innovative wines which are being vinted by him. John's philosophy is simple "Great wines, for all occasions can be made from Ontario Fruit". His experience, technique and artistry have already proved this to be the case. Fruit wines have been elevated to the next level with an incredible and exceptional taste experience awaiting you.

Excellence in store for you!
